How to Accept Admission on JAMB CAPS

Your university doesn't decide your admission alone — you have to accept it on JAMB CAPS for it to become official. Here is the full step-by-step, plus how to check your status and print your admission letter.

Step 1 — Login to JAMB e-facility

  1. Go to portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility
  2. Enter your email and password (the ones you used during JAMB registration).
  3. Click Login.

Step 2 — Open CAPS

  1. On the dashboard, click "Check Admission Status".
  2. Select the year of your UTME.
  3. Click Access My CAPS.

Step 3 — Check your admission status

You'll see one of these statuses:

  • Admission in Progress — your school is reviewing. Keep checking.
  • Admitted — an offer is on the table. Go to step 4.
  • Not Admitted — no offer yet. You may be considered later or for another school.

Step 4 — Accept (or reject) the offer

  1. If status shows Admitted, click "Accept Admission".
  2. Read the offer carefully — confirm course and school match what you want.
  3. Click Accept to confirm.
  4. If the course isn't what you want, you can click Reject, but think hard first — rejecting closes the offer permanently.

Step 5 — Print your JAMB admission letter

  1. Return to the e-facility dashboard.
  2. Click "Print Admission Letter".
  3. Pay the JAMB printing fee using your card or bank.
  4. Download the PDF and print colour copies for your university's clearance.

Common problems and fixes

  • "No transaction found": you haven't paid the admission letter fee yet — go back and complete payment.
  • Wrong course on offer: some schools offer change-of-course after admission. Contact the admissions office before rejecting.
  • Forgotten password: use the "Forgot Password" link on the e-facility login page — JAMB resets via the email you registered with.

Frequently asked questions

What is JAMB CAPS?
CAPS stands for Central Admissions Processing System. It's the JAMB portal where every admission offer is made and where you must accept or reject it.
How do I login to JAMB CAPS?
Go to the JAMB e-facility portal, log in with your JAMB profile email and password, then click on 'Check Admission Status' to enter CAPS.
What does 'admission in progress' mean on CAPS?
It means a university has started processing your application but hasn't made a final decision yet. Keep checking — it changes to 'Admitted' or 'Not Admitted' when the school decides.
Can I reject an admission and wait for another?
Yes, but be careful. Once you reject, that offer is gone. Only reject if you are confident your preferred school is still considering you, and you can afford to wait.

After accepting on CAPS, return to the e-facility portal, click 'Print Admission Letter', pay the printing fee, then download or print the PDF.
